BCA Annual Winter Open House! This year’s theme, “ Traditional Winter,” focuses on all things that make winter magical and wonderful both past and present for all who enjoy the season. Teams have been working diligently to provide ideas, activities, and projects to go along with this year’s theme. team one is in charge of toys, team 2 is working on indoor activities, team 3 has investigated outdoor activities, and team 4 is preparing winter time cuisine. The event focuses on collaboration skills among team members as well as critical thinking and problem solving. Please join us for the “Traditional Winter” open house from 12:30-2:00pm, Friday, December 16 in the gymnasium.
The next meeting of the Governing Authority will be Wednesday, December 14 @ 6:15 in the BCA cafeteria.

National Honor Society will be hosting a canned food drive for the Salvation Army all this week and next. Please be sure to visit the booth set up on Friday at teh Winter open house for more information as to how you can donate as well as the rich tradition of the Salvation Army.
This year, as part of our Bridges OUTREACH, the faculty and staff have donated money to be able to wear jeans on Fridays. By each faculty and staff member donating money, we were able to get enough funds and donations to provide 10 outreach baskets for people in need within our community. If you are interested in learning more about our OUTREACH for the holiday seasons or would like to become a part of it, please contact Mr. Pawsey for more information.
The annual Celebrate Youth Assets luncheon was held Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the Tiffin Community Civic Center. The two representatives were Maggie P. and Brittany H. from BCA. While in attendance, the representatives were awarded with plaques recognizing the hard work and dedication they contribute toward personal and collaborative success within the community as well as their school. In order to achieve this recognition, the individuals were nominated by their teachers based on characteristics of leadership, responsibility, and respect for youth and culture.
Friday, December 9, 2011 several teachers and two students from Bridges Community Academy attended the Alan November workshop held at NOESC in Tiffin, Ohio. While there all were informed of good, practical internet researching skills as well as the latest technologies that would benefit best educational practices as well as sites that would better aide in student and teacher achievement.
In this season of anticipation and giving, I am thankful for each new day afforded to us as a community and feel blessed to be a part of Bridges Community Academy with each new possibility provided to us.

Work at Home Days: Due to professional development and conferences Monday, December 5, 2011 and Friday, December 9, 2011 are work at home days. Please make sure you make arrangements for your children to complete the MANDATORY FIVE (5) hours for each day to be counted as present.
Funders' Breakfast: Wednesday, November 30, 2011 BCA, Knowledge Works and New Tech Network sponsored a breakfast for potential local businesses to partner with BCA. While enjoying a breakfast buffet at Heidelberg University, the businesses and educational professionals from the region learned about a unique educational opportunity available to our surrounding areas at Bridges Community Academy which will not only hone in on technological skills necessary for the 21st century but also teamwork, critical thinking, and problem solving. It was a very successful event that was attended by 25 major business and educational leaders within the surrounding communities. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication for our continued Commitment To Excellence!
Parent-Teacher Conferences: A major thank you to all the parents and students who made our parent teacher conferences a success.
